Your Childs Portrait History

I introduce to you, Miss Anna!

Anna’s mom joined our Portrait Club when Anna was just a few months old, she’s now 2 years old! Where does the time go? In what seems like a blink of the eye, a tiny little bundle is transformed into an active robust toddler.

Preserve the wonder of your childs first milestones…from birth…to sitting up…to crawling…and finally the independence of walking. This “portrait story” can become the first chapter of your childs personal portrait history. I wish we knew Anna when she was an infant. I would loved to have had those portraits included with her collection. Many clients tell us they regret not having more portraits made as their children grew up. It’s not that they didn’t value childhood portraits, they simply led busy lives, and the years just slipped away.

19martin-bd-email.jpg

That’s why we have structured a plan to help parents recognize the most important times to have their children photographed. The “7 Ages of Childhood”-times that mark the most significant changes along the path from infancy to young adulthood.

Baby’s first year is also the perfect time for your first family portrait or to capture the young family-including older siblings and even grandparents-or to create the ultimate heirloom; the multi-generational portrait.

Our portrait sessions are very relaxed-No Rushing Allowed! We dedicate up to one hour for you and you alone. No waiting room. No mall traffic.

I thought I would share a letter we received from Anna’s mom.

Dear Irving and Tracey,

Just a quick note to thank you for such a pleasurable and FUN experience at our portrait session. The extra mile you both go to make me and the girls comfortable does not go unnoticed. I know a 2 and 4 year old (especially together) can be a daunting task. You make it seem so easy. Your warmth and sincereness truly shows through. Looking forward seeing the preview!

Fondly,

Julie

Wow! Thanks Julie!

A Bridal Affair

We recently participated in “A Bridal Affair” held at Middelton Hall and sponsored by Southern Maryland Weddings. I want to thank all of the folks who visited Tracey and I at our booth. It was a great time to show brides our style and answer questions about their wedding photography.

page-6-and-7-copy.jpg

I thought I would give a top three list of questions that we were asked at the show, in hopes that it might help you in planning your wedding.

1. How much is this going to cost?? Well after asking you “What type of car do you drive?” and taking a look at the size of the rock on your finger. We quickly devise a price :)

Just kidding… The real question should be. “What do I get for $XXXX”

Our packages start at $2695 our most popular package is $3850. But again what are you getting for $XXXX

ALL of our packages come with a leather custom bound album. No three ring binder or post bound albums. These albums are custom bound in your choice of leather, suede or Japanese silk.

ALL of our packages include all of the digital files. High resolution files!

ALL of our packages include 4×6 proofs spiral bound with the image number printed on the back.
ALL of our packages include on line web hosting for 90 days. This web page is password protected. Your guest can view your wedding on line and order prints directly through the studio. This eliminates YOU from having to pass the proof book around and coordinate orders. Our brides love this feature!

ALL of the album portraits include retouching and enhancements. You will look beautiful!

ALL of our weddings are photographed by Irving Harris,CPP A Certified Professional Photographer. Less than 3% of photographers have earned this “Mark of Excellence”

ALL of our weddings are also photographed by Tracey Harris. An award winning artist that can provide that feminine touch to your photography.

2. How soon should I book your services?

We only photograph one wedding per day. And it’s on a first come first served basis. We have already booked several dates in 2009. So if you like us and our style you should make an appointment now!

tammyaaron.jpg

3. How do I book your services?

We require that all brides make an appointment and meet us. We need to determine your expectations and develop a strategy to meet those expectations. We do not book weddings over the phone without meeting you. You shouldn’t either. It’s important to realize that your wedding photographer will be a part of your wedding day. The entire day! More so than any other provider. This is an important decision. Take the time to meet your photographer prior to signing a contract. Oh and be certain to have a contract with every vendor. Be certain that they are in deed a professional. Do they have a business license? Insurance?

I hope this has been a good source of information for you. Feel free to phone us with any questions at 301-246-9900 or 1-800-522-3492

We have a few questions for you too! So, how big is that rock on your finger ;)

Celebrate Spring!

I don’t know about you. But I can’t wait for Spring. The gray days and cold weather gets to be a drag.

So, I look forward to this time with warm weather and children’s portraits. We have our own bunnies that make this event fun for the kids.

We have Sweet Pea, a dwarf dutch rabbit. He is gray and white and a absolute ham around the camera. We have two lion head rabbits named Peaches and Esther. They are brown with long hair that resembles a lion mane. They could care less about having their portrait taken. But, they do stay in place when I put them with kids. That’s kind of important.

The children absolutely have a ball with these sessions! They last up to one hour and we spend a lot of time just playing and getting the children (and the Moms) comfortable. Special pricing is available the first two weeks of March. Don’t put your child’s portrait off any longer. You will cherish these fine portraits year after year!

Over the next few weeks, Deborah will be hosting fundraising events and seeking personal and corporate donations that will benefit our local hospital, Civista Medical Center. Josh wanted a sunset river ceremony and Sharon pulled together a great reception! The weather was beautiful and the scenic park offered countless photo opportunities. We are getting lot’s of email from family and friends wanting to see the online proofs. The proofs will be available online after the bride and groom return from their honeymoon. Grunge

A new look that some high school seniors are talking about is grunge. These high contrast ripped edge portraits may not be what your Mama wants! But, we try to keep everybody happy. This senior is standing in front of a vintage Army bus.

If you haven’t had your senior portraits taken yet, what are you waiting on! It’s crunch time at the studio and you need to get in here soon! Yearbook deadlines are in the fall! Do you have any idea’s for your portraits? We are always looking for new ideas.

Nanjemoy Brush Fire

We are fortunate to have a beautiful pond for a portrait background. But, it also doubles as a fire hydrant in our rural community. This past Friday a 17+ acre brush fire was extinguished by local firefighters. One of the three ponds that we use for portraits, has a dry hydrant. A dry hydrant is nothing more than a pipe that extends in to the pond making water available for the fire fighters.

Pond Portrait

Here’s a 3 generation family portrait from last fall.

fire truck

This image is from Friday. The truck in this image serves as the pumping station. Water is pumped from the pond to other firetrucks waiting to go fight the fire.

Tracey Harris Art OnLine!

Tracey’s website is now online

gangweb.jpg

Many of you know that Tracey is an accomplished artist outside of her photography. And now the whole world can see her talent!

All of my marketing in print and on the web has been designed by my wife Tracey. Her talent in design and marketing has been a major source of my success. Now you can have original art created for you and your family. I encourage you to look at her website www.traceyharrisart.com

Looking for a commissioned portrait or perhaps a mural to serve as a focal point for you home or business? The process of commissioning her art is explained on her website. I have provided a link to her site, on the right hand side of this page.

It’s easy for me to forget how talented she is. I see her art and design work on a daily basis at the studio. But, it really hit home when recently we attended a Portrait Society of America banquet in Reston, Va. I was tagging along as her “eye candy” :)

I was surrounded by artist from all over the world. I’m not talking about those “conceptual artist”. I’m talking about portrait artist who paint Presidents and important folk like that. Tracey was right in the middle of them rubbing elbows and schmoozing with the world’s best. I put her in the same category!

Congratulations Honey!
